This very beautifully engraved map of Japan is from an edition of Caert-Thresoor printed by Barent Lagenes. It was published in numerous edition in Latin, Dutch, French, and German up to 1649. This is a French edition with the second title "Iapan" above the neatline. These maps are after the Ortelius/Teixeira pocket atlas. Shows much of the Korean peninsula. The sea is fully engraved in a moiré patter with a large sea monster. Strapwork cartouche.

The impression and image are fine with wide margins. A little discoloring at lower left tip where paper replaced.
