This striking title page introduced Blaeu's maps of Scotland, the 12th volume of his Atlas Maior, one of the largest and finest atlases ever assembled. The sheet features the royal coat of arms of Scotland with the shield depicting the red lion of the King of Scots supported by two crowned and chained unicorns with the banner of the arms and the national flag of Scotland. The title is printed on a separated sheet that is adhered to the engraving, as was customary during the period.

Superb original color fully high-lighted with gold leaf. The title is foxed, but the quality of the coloring far outweighs the foxing. Toned in the margin from a previous framing. Remnants of masking tape on verso at top edge.
