This uncommon "balloon view" is from a perspective high above Providence looking south across the City of Newport, Canonicut Islands, Dutch Island with the Atlantic Ocean and Block Island in the distance. Shows numerous sailing and steam ships, light ships, light houses and a light-ship. Includes Bristol, Little Compton, Fallriver, Kinston, Warwick Neck, Rocky Point, etc. This chromozylograph was produced by the rarely seen publisher C.A. Pabodie & Son, Engravers and Map Publishers, 139 Mahewson Street, Providence. Blank verso. Folds into original tan paper covers with fancy pictorial tilting that includes a balloon.
