This attractive map presents the continent with Sanson's characteristic attention to detail. It updates Sanson's map of 1650 with a more accurate rendition of the watersheds throughout the continent. However, the mythical Lac de Parime still appears with the legendary Manoa del Dora (city of gold) on its western shore. There is considerable detail of towns and cities and the capitanias are delineated in Brazil. The large decorative title cartouche is flanked by two pretty maidens.
