This is a very uncommon German map of The Mark, a German territory of the Holy Roman Empire in the Lower Rhine-Westphalian region. The map is very detailed and includes even the tiniest villages, along with the roads, rivers, bridges, fortifications, and forests. Below the handsome title cartouche is an engraved view of the castle Burg Altena in the Lenne River valley.
