This unusual map is from a rare 16th century Italian atlas of island maps. It focuses on Lefkada, and the small island between it and the Greek mainland that held the Turkish fortress of Sancta Maura. Camocio was one of the members of the so-called 'Lafreri-school' of Italian map-makers, active in the latter part of the sixteenth century. Trimmed to neatline and mounted on a sheet of 19th century paper for inclusion in a composite atlas.
