An uncommon and graphic map of the Holy Land filled with Biblical scenes, similar to those by Visscher and Stoopendaal. A compass rose orients the map with north in the top right corner. The large decorative title cartouche at bottom is flanked with figures and vignettes depicting the life of Christ, including his birth, crucifixion and resurrection. The beginning of the sea journey of the Apostle Paul to Rome is tracked at upper right, and the travels of Christ and the Apostles are noted within the map by a dotted line. At the top, putti hold banners with the key to the map and scale of miles, while tiny ships sail in the sea. Published in a German Bible by Theodor Falkeisen. German text on verso.

The right and left margins have been professionally extended using the leaf casting method with a little facsimile of the neat lines, otherwise the map image is fine.
