This is a very attractive map of the majority of the North American continent, excluding Alaska and southern Mexico. The western region is virtually unknown, but notations are made concerning the recent discoveries along the Northwest coast by Bering, Tschirikow, de Fuente and de Fuca. The River of the West is shown flowing out of Lake Winnipeg, which in turn form a Northwest Passage through a series of rivers and lakes connecting to Hudson Bay. Quivira is located in present day Nevada and Nouvelle Albion just to the north. The British Colonies are confined to the eastern seaboard. The map includes a decorative title cartouche and is surrounded by an engraved rococo style frame making it a very attractive sheet.
