Precisely engraved map showing Mexico and the region recently acquired by the United States in both the Mexican/American War and the Gadsden Purchase. It provides good detail of the Californian missions and early forts throughout the Southwest. Texas is oversized and misshapen, but gives extensive early information. The Gold Regions of California are not named but the watershed is highly developed. Locates Indian Tribes to include the Moquis, Apaches, Pima, Utes and more. Inset map of Central America titled "Guatimala or Central America." Sidney Hall's engraving is very well executed. The map is a nice example of the combination of early printed color (Mexico) and outline color applied by hand on the boundaries.
