This is the atlas volume from the report with a group of maps which together present a fascinating study of the early plans and enormous engineering accomplished by the Canal Commission by 1901. Alternate routes such as "Nicaragua Route from Caribbean Sea to Boca San Carlos" are included in these drawings as well as the expected plans, colored panoramic profiles and details of machinery of the present canal. The amount of information presented in these maps is overwhelming, but gives the student of canal history a treasure trove of material. The maps are in the original hard case with a paper list of maps pasted on inside. Calls for eighty-six maps, panoramic views and plans. The maps vary in size from 4to to very large, elaborate maps. The list calls for 87 maps composed of No. 1 - 86 plus 49a. Only 76 maps present of the 87.

Condition:
The maps vary between good (due to occasional water stains) to very good. Map #72 (Rainfall map of Nicaragua) is, ironically, heavily water stained. The cloth covered box is perished, brittle and of little value other than the list of maps and for suggesting the design for a new case.
