This is a fine map of the United Provinces during the Golden Age, when the Dutch dominated world trade in the 17th century. The map is very detailed with rivers, canals, marshes, hills, and forests carefully illustrated. Cities, villages, fortifications, and polders, including the Beemster polder, located. An inset map of the Maas River is included in the scales cartouche. The title cartouche is crowned with the coat of arms and flanked by allegorical figures. Dutch text on verso.
