This unusual map covers from Tibet and northern India through Korea and Japan, and to northern Thailand. At center is the imaginary Chiamaeus Lacus with four huge rivers flowing south into Bangladesh and Burma. The Great Wall is prominently depicted. The pictorial cartouche features Chinese merchants with some of the goods that were sought-after by European traders. A French title is at bottom, "Le Vaste Empire de la Chine…" and the map is enclosed in an elaborate, picture-frame style border.
