This charming and scarce small map features a huge island of California with an indented coastline and numerous place names. The British colonies are contained in a narrow band along the eastern seaboard. The Spanish colony of La Floride takes up the region spanning from the Carolinas to Texas, and Nouveau Mexique spans the entire West. Canada ou Nouvellee France takes in the region from the Mississippi valley and the Great Lakes to the Gulf of St. Laurence. A quaint title cartouche features a crocodile and serpent with natives tending a fire. This is the Dutch edition with Noord America added to the title.
