This handsome map of the Bishopric of Bergen is covered with graphic, though mostly imaginary, topographical detail. It extends to include the mountain plateau that is now the Hardangervidda National Park. Detail is confined primarily along the coastline, particularly in the vicinity of Bergen. The map is richly embellished with title and distance scale cartouches and sailing ships in the sea. It is nearly identical to Jansson's map of the region and was added to Blaeu's Atlas Major to counter the competition from his rival. Latin text on verso.
