This set of steel engraved celestial charts was produced by Mr. W. Newton from the catalogue of the Astronomical Society. This is a matching set numbered No. 1 through No. 6. Each star chart uses the Gnomonic Projection and include all the stars up to the fifth magnitude, or those that can been seen with the naked eye. The legend also identifies nebula. The constellations are shown in allegorical form and are beautifully hand-colored. An extremely fine example of these beautiful celestial charts. Design for the constellations by W. Clarke and engraved by J & C Walker.
