1) Asia, Johann Georg Schreiber, circa 1760, Atlas Selectus, Leipzig, hand color, (9 x 6.2"). Interesting small map of the Asian continent and South East Asia. Japan appears as a large single island incorporating "Terra Yedso." Compagnie Land is still shown to the east of Japan. Decorative title cartouche with merchants and exotic animals. Column of Dutch text to right of map. Beautiful, dark impression on sheet with original margins. The margins have some scattered, mottled foxing or light staining. (B+)

China Regio Asie, Ortelius, Epitome, 1595, black & white, (4.2 x 3"). This is a fine miniature map of China with fully stippled seas and with north oriented to the right. Good depiction of the Great Wall. A portion of Japan is shown to the east. French text on verso and page 107 on recto. Very nice example with just a little marginal toning. (A)
