This map illustrates the ancient geography of the Barbary Coast from present day Morocco through the Tripoli region of Libya. The Atlas Mountains form a boundary between the coastal empires and Libia Interioris pars which is mostly obscured by the large, strapwork title cartouche. Tavernier's imprint appears in the cartouche at left, while the dedication cartouche at right is left blank.

Original outline color with some damp stains in the blank margins. There is an extraneous vertical crease in the map.
