This elegantly engraved map covers the Gold Coast from Sierra Leone to Gabon. This is Ogilby's English edition of Montanus. The map is very similar to the Blaeu edition including the small drawings of animals and it shares rhumb lines and fancy scroll text in the sea. Ogilby's version has three ships and half a compass rose . The fancy title cartouche is flanked by angles and other allegorical figures. To the right, two child-like sea creatures are carrying a large elephant tusk which contains the distance scale . Blank verso.
