This Italian map is a very early record of Capt. Cook's discoveries in Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea and the South Pacific from his first voyage (1768-71). These include the first circumnavigation of New Zealand and the mapping of the eastern coast of Australia, where there are numerous place names. In addition the tracks of the other significant English expeditions in Polynesia between 1765-69 are shown; Carteret, Byron, and Wallis. The large pictorial title cartouche features Cook's ship, Endeavor, along with a native fishing boat.

Nice impression and original color in Zatta's unique color palette. There are a few minor spots of candle wax in the map
