This folio atlas was published by J. Barfield. It is dedicated to His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester. The contents call for 20 maps and tables, but the maps of Prussia and Italy are not present, and the map of Britain is bound out of order. Filled with colorful thematic tables with a bewildering amount of information on the genealogical and chronological of the "Royal Families in Europe," my favorite being Peter the Cruel, no doubt a terrific feudal ruler. Each group of tables is followed by the related map, surrounded by additional text. Hard bound, title page with list of maps, Plan of Mr. Le Sage's Maps, Introduction, Developpement de la Carte (in French), maps and tables. Provenance: Sold at auction [1929-32] with the original auction paper label "Plaza Art Galleries, Inc., Auctioneers, 59th St. New York" lot number 533 still attached by string. Hardbound with paper covers, leather tips.

The maps are generally good+ to very good, the map of the Americas has some offsetting. Virtually disbound with boards loose, spine perished, maps held together in five signature groups. Will require the attention of a book binder.
