This is an early specially patronized edition, of Starling's very popular Victorian miniature atlas. A key to points of interest on each map can be found on the facing page. Engraved title page, table of contents, preface and 49 single-page maps. Included are four comparative plates showing mountains, rivers, lakes and seas, three world maps, the normal complement of the continents and major countries or regions, plus the more unusual maps of the South Sea Islands and Australia. 18 mo. Hardbound in original quarter calf with marbled paper boards. This edition is not noted by King and includes three additional maps. A great little atlas that would benefit greatly from the attention of a binder.
