A detailed bird's-eye view of the fortified city of Basel, on both sides of the Rhine, filled with details down to individual streets, buildings, bridges, towers and churches. Two legends locate 42 buildings; one for each bank of the Rhine. A striking city crest decorates the upper corner, and a simple compass orients north to the lower left.
