This map is the European sheet of a two sheet set of the Russian Empire. The map is dedicated to Peter the Great, but more importantly to Elizabeth Petrovna. She was Peter's second oldest-daughter and Empress who was given primary credit for making the map possible. The bottom cartouche is shown in both French and Latin. There is also a detailed title cartouche in the upper-left with various coats of arms of the Russian empire.
