This is an early Johnson and Browning imprint of one of Colton's famous series of pocket maps. The counties are highlighted in different colors with extensive detail of roads, railroads, towns and watershed. There is also uncolored detail of surrounding states. The map is printed on banknote paper and folds into blind stamped red cloth pocket covers with paper title labels "Colton's Map of Alabama" on both front and rear boards.
