This map shows the central London area and marks important public buildings, places of entertainment, monuments, foreign embassies, churches, and schools of mid-Victorian London. Some of the famous features included are Kensington Palace, Camden Town, London Docks, and Kennington. First published in the supplementary atlas to the Weekly Dispatch Newspaper, which was issued in month segments between 1856 and 1862, this map was then re-issued in the Weekly Dispatch Atlas of 1863. The maps from this series bear the distinctive sign of a half globe with the figure of Mercury above the title.
