This uncommon map of Sicily and southern Italy, extending to Rome in the north, is divided into its kingdoms, with details of the towns, rivers, mountains and forests in the region. The active volcano of Mount Etna, Mont Gibel, is depicted on the east coast of Sicily. It also extends to include the strategically important island of Malta. The title cartouche features the coat of arms of the Angevins of Naples and the Aragonese kings of Sicily.
