This German map of Africa represents the geographical knowledge of the early nineteenth century. The majority of the interior is unmapped, with notations that the land is unknown (Unbekante Laender), except for Kumri Gebirg, also known as the Mountains of the Moon. There are numerous place names along the coastline and several countries are identified. Decorated with a simple circular title cartouche.

Watermarked paper with light printer's ink residue at top right and a few small stains. Right and left-hand margins have been trimmed to neatline. There are two small holes in top blank margin, far from map image.
