A superb early nineteenth century map filled with incredible detail and notations. European colonies and settlements are outlined, and there are numerous notes on the region. A large inset at top of the Senegal River is entitled " Pays de Oualo." A lengthy explanation in French describes the surveys and observations that were used to construct the map. First published in 1828, this edition was updated in 1834. Beautifully engraved with a bold keyboard style border and embossed seal from Charles Picquet, publisher and successor to Brue, above the title.
