These original leaves are from a rare book containing the office of the Catholic Mass printed in Venice. This book was published during the period of transition from manuscript to printing and incorporates the illuminated manuscript tradition with woodcut illustrations within the large initials. There are a total of four illustrations on these three leaves, including a very large (11-line) engraving with the decoration extending into the margin of a man holding a cross, a lamb and a scroll that reads "Ecce Angus," which translates as "Behold the lamb of God." The text is printed in red and black ink and the woodcuts were colored by hand.
