The Map Collector magazine was founded by Ronald Vere Tooley in 1977. Over the next two decades, it built a reputation as a highly respected resource on the history of cartography and collecting antique maps. Each issue contains a wealth of information written by the most respected researchers, collectors and dealers. This lot includes the entire series from issue 1 (December 1977) to the final issue 74 (Spring of 1996), plus five indexes covering issues 1-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, and 51-60. The indexes were compiled by Tessa Campbell, Tony Campbell and Mary Alice Lowenthal, and include indexes by subject, author, geography, people, and books reviewed. The indexes are an indispensable part of the Map Collector series. This lot also includes a photocopy of the original "Catalog List of Available Back Issues," which lists all articles from each issue. The magazines are encased in nine decorative green vinyl-covered magazine holders that are stamped with the Map Collector Magazine name and logo, and serve as a nice way to organize and store the collection. The set weighs approximately 52 pounds - please contact us for a shipping quotation prior to placing your bid.
