This detailed county map of Illinois depicts up to date county lines for 1823, with the newly organized counties of Fulton and Edgar. Two large tracts of land in the north of the state are marked Pike Bounty Land and Sauk and Fox Indians. Much of the state still appears to be firmly in the possession of Native Americans. There is good detail of rivers, roads, and towns, including Chicago, St. Louis and Springfield. Engraved by B.T. Welch.
