This charming, reduced-size view is based on Braun and Hogenberg's Zurych of 1598. The bird's-eye view shows Zurich separated by the Limmat River, connected only by bridges. At bottom right is the twin-towered Romanesque and Gothic Fraumunster, a former Benedictine nunnery, with the single-towered St. Peter to the left. On the far side of the river lie the Wasserkirche to the right and the Predigerkirche to the left. The city walls with their towers are shown, which no longer exist in this form. Latin text on verso.
