This stunning engraving illustrates the Vale of Tempe in Thessalia, at the foot of Mount Olympus, a mixture of Greek myth and history. Ortelius described it as "where people dwell, meet in companies, and having done divine service and ceremonies in due form and manner, they banquet and make merry." Italian text on verso, published between 1608-12.

Wide margins with a couple of faint creases near centerfold. There are a few tiny tears along plate mark and short tears in blank margins that have all been closed on verso with archival materials.
