This copper engraved map of Japan divides the country by provinces, and extends to show the eastern border of Korea. Only the mountain ranges are depicted in the interior, with place names indicated primarily along the southern coastline and the northeastern tip. The land route traveled by the Dutch from Nangasacki (Nagasaki) to Cocora (Kitakyushu) and again from Osacca (Osaka) to Jedo (Tokyo) is illustrated. The map was published in Valentyn's Oud en Nieuw Oost Indien, which was an encyclopedic account of the Dutch trading Empire in Asia.
