Spectacular map folds into stiff printed boards (3.8 x 7") with Japanese characters and lovely graphic elements on front and back. The beautifully colored and printed map is surrounded by 15 scenes of important buildings and places within the city, and two portraits of royalty, most likely the Emperor and Empress. Highly detailed, the map locates railroads, streets and vast waterways in the downtown reminiscent of Venice. It has two inset maps and is further decorated by a sailing/steam ship in the harbor. Compass rose and graphic elements surround the legend. Blank verso with color bleed-through. A fascinating work of Japanese craftsmanship.

Nice example with striking color. There are a few small separations at the fold intersections that have been repaired with archival tape and the folds show some wear. Covers show a little wear but very good.
