This is an uncommon version of Rapkin’s map of Australia that is most frequently seen with Tallis’ imprint. This version has no imprint and is without the vignettes. It has good detail along the coastlines that contrasts dramatically with the complete lack of detail in the interior. This edition names six states/territories; West Australia, North Australia, South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Van Diemen's Land. The blank interior is filled with tables listing county names. There are 74 counties in New South Wales, 26 in West Australia and 24 in Victoria. Drawn and engraved by J. Rapkin. Surrounded by a delicately engraved decorative border.
