Biography of Joseph Nicollet, an explorer of the area between the Missouri and upper Mississippi rivers. 300 pp. with a small folding map in pocket of back cover. Hardbound in red cloth covers with text in gild on spine, with dust jacket. Condition - excellent with slightly bumped edges and a little wear on the dust jacket. (A)
B. A Map: The Hydrographical Basin of the Mississippi River 1843 by Joseph Nicollet, 1976, (6 x 9"). Facsimile map which is folded, printed from an original copy measuring 31 x 36". The map extends from Lake Superior in the upper right to Kansas River in the lower left. Uses hachure lines to show principal terrain features. Front pastedown explains historical significance of the map and details regarding Nicollet. Fine condition. (A+)

Facsimile edition of the original of 1838 by Rev. Samuel Parker who studied many different facets of the American West and traveled with the American Fur Company. 380 pp and a folding map. Limited edition print of 2000 copies. Hardbound in brown cloth covers with text on spine. Excellent condition. (A+)
