Published in Marzolla's scarce atlas, Atlante Geografico, this map gives extensive detail and notes on the British and Russian possessions in the northern-most parts of North America. The map depicts the recent discoveries in the arctic by Captain McClure from 1850-53, who confirmed the existence of a Northwest Passage. Alaska is named America Russa and is left blank. Mountains, rivers, lakes, early forts, and numerous Indian tribes fill the remainder of the map. Text below the map gives political and statistical information.
