A. This lot of 3 topographical maps from the USGS covers the Cape Cod area. Produced under the direction of John Wesley Powell, the maps display detail of the coastline, towns, roads, and railroads with a scale of 1 mile per inch.
Massachusetts Wellfleet Sheet, dated 1905, printed color (13 x 17.5"). Condition: Faint toning.
Massachusetts Provincetown Sheet, dated 1906, printed color (13 x 17.5"). Condition: Faint toning.
Massachusetts Chatham Sheet, dated 1905, printed color (13 x 17.5"). Condition: There is a small damp stain in the lower left blank margin.
B. These two maps from the Coast and Geodetic Survey depict the entrance to Nantucket Sound and demonstrate the evolution in surveying efforts.
