This impressive large-scale map of Switzerland is presented on two sheets, and is filled with information. Towns, roads, rivers, lakes, and forests are depicted, with the mountainous topography given an almost three-dimensional quality. At bottom is a small inset with a lovely view of Chamonix, France with Mont Blanc in the background. Another inset at bottom right shows the relative heights of the main mountains in and around Switzerland. The map is richly adorned with two decorative cartouches depicting mountains, a waterfall, and a local couple. This map was first published in French by William Faden in 1788, and is here translated in German and republished by Schraembl.

A fine impression with original outline color. There are professional repairs to one tiny tear in the center of each sheet and several small worm holes at far right.
