This is a handsome and interesting map of present-day Tunisia and Libya with the strategic islands of Malta in the Mediterranean. The topography is shown to be quite mountainous with numerous oasis located and shown in the European manner of forests. In the Gulf of Sidra is the Syrtis Maior, a dangerous sandbank and the ancient name for the gulf. The title is engraved on a drape-style cartouche from which a pair of adorable sea monsters hang.
