This German plan of Sydney is based upon Charles Alexandre Lesueur's map of 1811. Lesueur was a French naturalist, artist and explorer who traveled to Australia as the artist on board the expedition of Nicolas Baudin in 1801. At the bottom of the plan is an index locating 38 different buildings. In this edition, the title cartouche credits Lesueur, however the name is misspelled. Published in Friedrich Ludwig Lindner's Der funfte Welttheil oder Australien.
