This colorful and humorous pictorial map depicts the Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, Illinois. The station is located north of Chicago and is the Navy's only boot camp. The map is filled with hundreds of buildings and important sites with a key at bottom, along with many illustrations including the Loch Ness monster in Lake Michigan, a sailor courting an evil-looking mermaid, and Poseidon roasting a hot dog with his trident. The verso contains black & white photographs and text describing life at the training center. Created by Robert Gadbois and Theodore Ritter.
