This detailed plan by R. J. Matchett shows the street-grid pattern of the city of Baltimore and delineates its wards. Important buildings such as Johns Hopkins Hospital are noted on the plan, and a list below provides the locations for other "principal public buildings, churches, literary institutions, &c."

Issued on bank-note style paper. Scattered soiling with two tiny holes near left edge and a 1" tear at bottom that have all been archivally repaired. Trimmed close to neatlines on all sides, with minor loss of neatline at upper right.
