This attractive copper engraved map of Central Italy is centered on Rome, and covers the area from Tarquinia south to Naples and Salerno. The map displays cities and towns, lakes, rivers, and mountains in profile. A large allegorical title cartouche featuring Minerva and a river god also incorporates distance scales and a small legend. This map appears to be the same as Giovanni Battista Canali's published in 1699, with a revised title cartouche including van der Aa's name.
