This uncommon and very attractive French Art Deco globe on a full ring meridian cradle is mounted to a nickel stand with three legs, and is surrounded by a large horizon ring held up by four arms. With twenty-four lithograph paper gores, the geography indicates the globe was produced circa 1936. Constantinople is shown (1930), as is Manchukuo (1931), and Iran is no longer labeled Persia (1935). Ocean currents are shown in a series of white lines, shipping routes are depicted with a solid red line, and underwater cables are displayed with a red dashed line. A large analemma is located in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of the Americas, while a simple cartouche and legend occupies the southern Indian Ocean. Total height is 35".
