These two maps show Union and Confederate positions in blue and red in the vicinity of Spanish Fort, Alabama on April 8th and 9th, 1865. The maps depict roads, drainage and topography. This area was one of the last major battlegrounds of the Civil War and involved 4,000 Confederate troops and 16,000 Union troops. Lithographed by Bowen & Co. in Philadelphia.
A. Siege Operations at Spanish Fort Mobile Bay... (16.8 x 12.2"). Condition: Issued folding with light toning along the folds and a few short fold separations.
B. Rebel Line of Works at Blakely... (15.0 x 10.0"). Condition: Issued folding with light toning along the folds and a chip at lower left that just enters the neatline in a couple of spots.
