This uncommon map highlights the area of the city that was burned during the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Printed by Hoe's Steam Lith. Press as a promotional map for the Great Atlantic Tea Company, as stated on the map, "Who donated the entire profits of their 14 Stores, Oct 14th, to the Sufferers." The Great American Tea Company, later to become Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company or A&P, was originally confined to the New York City area but expanded into Chicago shortly after the fire.
