This copper engraving is from Calmet's encyclopedic dictionary on all aspects of the history, geography, and culture of the Bible and Biblical times. This view depicts Ephesus, an ancient Greek city on the western coast of present-day Turkey. A key at bottom identifies numerous locations. Two large insets show the Temple of Diana (also known as the Temple of Artemis), one of the seven wonders of the world, and a statue of Diana, the Roman goddess of hunting and childbirth.

A nice impression on watermarked paper with wide margins, light toning along centerfold, and damp stains in blank margins that just touch neatline.
