Dezauche, the successor to the Delisle cartographic firm, issued this re-engraved version of the Delisle's famous map of the Americas that was first published in 1722. The map has been extensively updated through numerous revisions. This one includes the information from Cook's discoveries in the Northwest and Alaska in an inset and the decorative cartouches have been replaced with the simpler lineal flourishes popular at the beginning of the 19th century. The United States is shown with its claims into present-day British Columbia and Mexico is in control of Texas and the Southwest. Tooley notes an 1830 version, but does not mention the removal of the cartouches - so this may be an edition he did not record.
